You've been buying lenses online for a while now. And that's perfectly fine! But your eyes are very important, so it's also important to have your eyes and lenses checked by an optometrist every 6 months. This will allow you to wear your lenses for longer without experiencing any eye discomfort.
What to Expect During a Contact Lens Check-Up
Our experienced optometrists perform a comprehensive contact lens check-up, including:
- Visual Screening: We test your vision at a distance and close-up, with and without lenses.
- Refraction Measurement: We measure your eyes with lenses to determine or adjust your lens prescription.
- Eye Examination: We closely examine your eyes using a microscope to check for abnormalities, irritation, or inflammation.
- Tear Film Analysis: We assess the quality of your tear film to ensure it provides adequate moisture for your lenses.
- Lens Assessment: We check your lenses for wear, dirt, and damage.
After the contact lens check-up, we discuss the findings with you and answer all your questions. We provide personalized advice on your eye health, lens maintenance, lens choice, and wearing contact lenses.
FAQ's
This depends on the type of appointment and the eye complaints. For a contact lens check or a dry eye examination, it takes approximately 15-20 minutes. If you have other eye complaints that need further investigation with an eye scan or an eye microscope, your eyes will be dilated, and the total duration will be 1 hour: 15 minutes for the examination, 30 minutes waiting for the drops to take effect, plus another 15 minutes for additional tests.

If you have a digital referral (ZorgDomein), you pay nothing.
With a paper referral (not via ZorgDomein), you pay approximately €70 from your insurance deductible and €30 out of pocket.
Then you will be referred directly to the ophthalmologist, or your general practitioner will be advised to refer you to another medical specialist. This will be discussed with you.
